About

Hi, I'm Mike

I make Screenshot Text. It's just me: one developer, no investors, no growth team.

Why I built it

I learn a lot from coding tutorials, and I kept doing the same annoying thing: pausing the video, squinting at the code on screen, and retyping it line by line. Every typo cost me another five minutes of debugging code I hadn't even written.

The OCR tools I tried could read the text, but they flattened it. Indentation disappeared, quotes turned curly, a capital I became a lowercase l. Fine for a paragraph, useless for code you want to run.

So I built the tool I wanted: press ⌘⇧7, drag over anything on screen, and get text that pastes and runs. Code mode keeps the structure, and an optional AI pass, running entirely on your Mac, repairs the slips OCR makes.

What I care about

  • Your screen stays yours. Recognition and the AI cleanup run on your Mac. Captures are never uploaded, there are no accounts, and the app works offline. The privacy policyspells out exactly what does and doesn't leave your computer.
  • Pay once. The free plan is the full app, capped at 5 captures a day. Lifetime is a one-time payment with every future update. No subscription.
  • Do one thing well.Screenshot Text isn't a screenshot editor or a cloud service. It gets text off your screen, accurately, in one keystroke.

The company

Screenshot Text is published by PLOREC LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 10527882), registered office Unit 22 Cariocca Business Park, 2 Sawley Road, Manchester, M40 8BB. The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
